It all began when Steven Bluestone called Bikur Cholim to schedule a Covid-19 test. He felt very unwell.
Little did he know that Covid would be the least of his problems. His increasing malaise, low oxygen levels and disorientation were not from Covid but rather from an infected kidney stone causing his body to go into septic shock.
That one phone call saved Steven’s life. From that point on, Bikur Cholim was in touch with him day and night. It was our unwavering dedication to patient care and follow through that made us ask his relative to check on him when he didn’t respond to our calls and texts. He was found unconscious, lying on the floor. 911 was immediately called.
No one wants to get sick. And no one wants to be hospitalized. But, if illness does strike, we are here. Let Bikur Cholim be the healthcare advocate and a source of physical and emotional support for the community.
