Rabbi Jacob Greenberg, A"H

Rabbi Jacob J. Greenberg, zt"l, the father of our sixth grade rebbe, Rabbi Gershon Greenberg, was rabbi of Congregation Beth Tikvah in Canarsie Brooklyn for five decades.

He was also a chaplain in the military, achieving the rank of colonel.

During this time, over half a century in the rabbinate, he fulfilled the dictum of the rabbis; love your fellow man, and bring them closer to Torah. He loved to learn and acquire sefarim.

This was evident not only by the time he spent learning, but also by the myriad of sefarim that lined the walls of his office. He had a great love for Eretz Yisroel, spending many summers leading groups through the length and breadth of the land.

His sons, Rabbi Gershon and Dr. Yissochor, have made a tremendous impact on the Five Towns community. R' Gershon is a beloved rebbe at Yeshiva of South Shore, and Dr. Yissochor is a prominent doctor and community askan. Rabbi Jacob Greenberg left behind generations of bnei Torah and Yorei Shamayim who follow in his nost noble path. Yehi Zichro Baruch
