Rebbetzin Leona (Abeles) Bomzer, A"H

Rebbetzin Leona Bomzer (nee Abeles), of blessed memory, was the devoted Rebbetzin of Rabbi Chaim Zev Bomzer and stood by his side as he served as the Rav of the Young Israel of Williamsburg and then the Young Israel of Ocean Parkway, where he served as Rav for over 40 years. A brilliant woman with an effervescent personality, she opened her heart and home to the hundreds who sought the sage counsel of the Rabbi and Rebbetzin.  

She was the epitome of an aishes chayil, who together with her husband were icons of the American Rabbinical world and a major force in the growth of the Flatbush community and its commitment to Torah and mitzvos. Rebbetzin Bomzer held education in the highest regard and was supportive of her husband as he achieved smicha, his Masters and Two doctoral degrees. She encouraged her sons and daughters to complete their education and strive for higher education. 

She is survived by her children Suri and Yaacov Lewis, a Presidium member of the Yeshiva of South Shore, Rabbi Moshe and Rochel Bomzer, Ettie and Paul Bloom, Gedaliah and Renee Bomzer, Zipporah and Josh Rapps and Esther and Menachem Sklar, many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
